Welcome to Orinvis
Thank you for choosing Orinvis.
Whether you're using a Communication Book, Communication Board, Visual Display Board or Communication Card Pack, the goal is the same — helping children communicate with confidence using clear, consistent visual supports.
Every child learns differently, so don't worry about using everything at once. Start small, keep communication positive, and celebrate every success along the way.
1. Introduce the Visual Supports
Spend time exploring your Orinvis resources together.
Look through the pictures, point to the images and say the words aloud. Let your child become familiar with the vocabulary and how the visuals are organised before expecting them to use them independently.
2. Model the Communication
Children learn best by seeing visual communication used naturally.
As you speak, point to the matching picture, card or symbol.
For example:
"Do you want a drink?" → Point to Drink
"Let's go outside." → Point to Outside
The more consistently you model the visuals yourself, the more likely your child is to begin using them.
3. Encourage Communication
Create opportunities for your child to communicate throughout the day.
Offer choices.
Ask simple questions.
Use visual schedules during routines.
Build simple sentences using communication cards.
Remember, every attempt to communicate is a success.
4. Respond and Expand
Whenever your child points to a picture or card, respond positively.
Repeat their message aloud and, where possible, act on what they've communicated.
As confidence grows, encourage combining multiple visuals to express more complex ideas.
Be Patient
Learning to communicate using visual supports takes time.
Some children begin using pictures immediately, while others need weeks or months of consistent modelling before they become confident communicators.
Every child progresses at their own pace.
The goal isn't perfection—it's helping children communicate, connect and be understood.
